BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners for 2009 announced

I have to admit to surprise as, whilst its a good pike, I've seen some images that are technically as good and compositionally better. I wonder if it's the vegetation creating the impression of a Japanese painting that swings it? I do like the judges decision not to fixate on a rare and inaccessible species.

Posted by Viz'art on 2009-10-26 14:52:50 The winner? I didn't get it. In terms of its portraiture, use of light, composition or looking at the tableau as a whole, I find it unexceptional.
