Established in 1994, Backscatter is the premier underwater imaging center on the west coast and the world wide web.  We sell all makes of underwater photo and video equipment, both new and used. Our service center functions as the west coast Warranty Service Center for all major brands. We offer a large selection of rental equipment, function as the world wide distributor of Top Dawg underwater video housings and organize about 80 days of travel and training events annually.

We are located on historic Cannery Row in Monterey, California only a few paces from the water.  Every weekend, we are blessed with 200-400 dripping wet divers just outside our front door.  While our walk-in business is slightly seasonal, our internet and phone sales remain fast paced throughout the year.  Employees are encouraged to make use of the rental / demo equipment and expand their imaging skills. A small dive locker is available for employee use on site.  We also encourage and supplement funding for outside training such as photography, printmaking, video production, photoshop, and all forms of web development.
