Autofocus testing with Panasonic GH4

Russ Sanoian's macro tests with the GH4 on Wetpixel.

Russ Sanoian of Backscatter has been carrying out tests with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 4K mirrorless camera. His first test is described:

“This was my first dive with the Panasonic GH 4 camera, I wanted to test the auto focus accuracy. The visibility was 3-5 ft with lots of particular matter in the water. On my next dives I want to test the “tracking focus” option that allows you to choose a zone (eyeball for example) for the camera to maintain focus on. All in all I am impressed with the cameras ability to lock and maintain focus with such a shallow depth of field.”

He was using an Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro Lens, together with a Nauticam SMC.

The GH4 seems to present a very viable 4K option for travelling divers, those that cannot afford the larger options and in situation where a larger camera is restrictive.
