After divers off the north coast of Scotland tried unsuccessfully to free a Scottish grey seal from tangled fishing line, rescuers from the Hillswick Wildlife Sanctuary arrived on the scene, caught the seal, and cut it free. Although the seal appears to dangle by its neck in the video, the rescuers saw the seal surface several feet away from the boat and swim away unharmed. Image from Shutterstock.
The rules regarding the carrying of electronic goods in the cabins of aircraft for some flights into the US or UK have been relaxed today. Flights with Etihad Airways, Emirates Airline and Turkish Airlines no longer have restrictions on them (this is currently pending with the latter into the UK). The ban still affects image makers visiting Egypt’s Red Sea and frequent travelers Saeed Rashid and Terry Steeley have kindly shared their thoughts and strategies for coping with the additional security measures in Egyptian airports for the Wetpixel community.

Earth Touch News has published a video of a blue whale lunge feeding in Monterey Bay. Blue whales, the largest animals on earth, are some of the rarest to encounter in the wild. Even more so to get a perfect view of a blue whale feeding on krill, their main food source. But, wildlife photographer Slater Moore did just that while on a whale watching boat off Monterey last month.

Canon has announced two new SLR cameras. The EOS 6D Mark II has a full frame 29.2 MP sensor, a native ISO range of 100-40000 and a 45 points all cross type autofocus (AF) system. The EOS Rebel SL2 9EOS (200D in Europe) has an APS-C 24.2 MP sensor, an ISO range of 100-25600 and Dual Pixel CMOS AF.
