Ikelite announces housing for Sony a6300
Ikelite has announced their new housing for the Sony a6300 mirrorless camera. Featuring integrated TTL with Sony’s system and the company’s DS series strobes and wide port lens support, the new housing is constructed of Ikelite’s new light grey ABS-PC material.
New marine sanctuary established in Galapagos Islands
The government of Ecuador announced yesterday plans to establish a marine sanctuary around the islands of Wolf and Darwin in the Galapagos Islands. Although the waters surrounding the famous islands have been protected since 1998 under the Galapagos Marine Reserve, small scale fishing was still permitted throughout most of the waters. This new sanctuary will establish strict no-take zones.
Polaroid develops underwater housings
Veteran camera equipment manufacturers Polaroid has launched a range of polycarbonate housings for compact, mirrorless and SLR cameras. Variously reated to between 130 and 160 feet (40 to 50m), the housings have a fixed port, so work with specific lens combinations. The company will offer housings for cameras from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony.
Adobe adds Technology Previews to Lightroom on the Web
Adobe has added a new feature to its Lightroom on the Web service. “Technology Previews” are where Adobe will allow user to test drive new functionalities before they are incorporated into final versions. The current new technology is a search function that uses Adobe’s new image analysis technology to locate images.
Okhotsk Sea Museum issues apology for offensive photo contest winning choice
The Japanese museum, Okhotsk Sea Museum, that put on a photo contest and chose a man standing on a dead whale as its winning image has issued an apology. The apology comes after the public reacted with strong negativity to the museum’s choice. In addition to an apology, the prize has been revoked and this year’s contest is cancelled.
